100 days until the Liebherr Cup Final – and over 500 tickets already sold in 2 days!
In exactly 100 days, on January 4, 2026, the Liebherr Cup Final – one of the highlights of the German sporting calendar – will take place at the ratiopharm arena in Ulm/Neu-Ulm. And demand speaks for itself: just 48 hours after advance sales began, over 500 tickets have already been sold.
“This clearly shows that enthusiasm for the Liebherr Cup Final is unbroken – and continues to grow,” says Nico Stehle, Managing Director of Tischtennis Bundesliga GmbH (TTBL). “We are proud that we have been able to develop this event into a fixture in the German sporting calendar over the years.”
Final Four with cult status
For the eleventh time in a row, the ratiopharm arena will be the stage for the Final Four. Four top teams will battle it out on one day for the first national title of the year. The now established January date, the state-of-the-art location, and the nearly 5,000 fans in recent years make the cup final a unique experience – for players, spectators, and media partners alike. The event has long since developed its own identity. It is loud, passionate, compact – and a real highlight every year.
Surprises know no league
The Liebherr Cup Final stands for top-class sport and surprises. For example, when ASC Grünwettersbach won the cup in 2020, the underdogs defeated the eventual champions Saarbrücken in the preliminary round and even the double winners Ochsenhausen in the final. “You never forget moments like that in such an atmosphere,” says ASC sports director Martin Werner. “Our victory was a milestone – in sporting terms, but also in terms of the perception of our club. That's exactly what this event stands for.”
The Final Four participation of second division club TV Hilpoltstein in 2017 is also part of the cup's history – and has long served as a role model for other underdogs such as Union Velbert, who will face Champions League winners 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT and Olympic champion Fan Zhendong in the quarterfinals of the current season.
For fans. For players. For the sport.
The cup final is also very popular among the pros. Patrick Franziska, top performer at 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT, says: “The Final Four is a real highlight. Semifinals and finals on one day, a full hall, a great atmosphere – you hardly ever see anything like that during the season. For us players, it's something very special.”
Excitement ahead of the quarterfinals
Before the Final Four gets underway, there are still four quarterfinal matches to be played in the cup – with high-class pairings that promise excitement:
- SV Union Velbert vs. 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT
- TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen vs. Post SV Mühlhausen
- TTC RöhnSprudel Fulda-Maberzell vs. TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau
- TTC OE Clarity Telefon-Systeme Bad Homburg vs. Borussia Düsseldorf
Whether it's defending champions Ochsenhausen, record winners Düsseldorf or Champions League winners Saarbrücken – they all want to go to Ulm/Neu-Ulm. And no matter who makes it, the event already promises world-class table tennis.
