TTC OE Bad Homburg has found a successor for its retiring coaching legend, Helmut Hampl. Former championship-winning coach Slobodan Grujic will take over Hampl’s former position with the Hessian club for the new season following his upcoming departure from TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau.

Hampl is one of the most colorful coaching personalities in Bundesliga history. The 73-year-old, who discovered German icons Jörg Roßkopf and Timo Boll, will serve as sporting director in the Taunus region going forward.

Grujic, who led 1. FC Saarbrücken to its first championship in 2020, was part of Hampl’s successful TTV Gönnern team in the 1990s and 2000s. With Boll and later Roßkopf, the Serbian won the Champions League and the Cup twice each with the Hessian club.

During his five-year tenure in Grenzau, the 52-year-old consistently kept the Westerwald-based team, which was often threatened with relegation, in the league. Former Zugbrücke player Chen Zhibin has been confirmed as his successor at the former champions for just over two months now.
