Returnee Togami leads Ochsenhausen to first win of the season
He made the fans wait, but instantly delivered on his comeback: Shunsuke Togami shone in Ochsenhausen’s 3–1 victory over TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, steering the defending champions to their first win of the season with two commanding singles performances. Grenzau’s only point came courtesy of Feng Yi-Hsin.
Togami sparkles on season debut
In his first match of the campaign, Togami left no doubt against Samuel Walker. The Japanese star, who has taken on the key role in the team following the departures of Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy, constantly unsettled the Englishman with his varied play and cruised to a 3–0 win. He followed up with another straight-sets success against Feng Yi-Hsin, saving two game points in the opener before taking control with his trademark backhand to seal victory in style.
Chirita provides key momentum shift
Grenzau briefly leveled the tie when Feng Yi-Hsin overcame an opening-game loss to defeat Andreas Levenko 3–1. But Iulian Chirita swung the momentum back to the hosts. The young Romanian dropped the first game to Maciej Kubik but roared himself into the contest, taking the next three games in succession. That put Ochsenhausen 2–1 ahead, a lead they would not relinquish.
“Schnitzel” the secret to his footwork
After the match, Togami apologized to the Ochsenhausen crowd for missing the first two fixtures and thanked them “for waiting for me.” The lively top player also revealed a light-hearted secret behind his quick footwork in a Dyn interview: “My favorite food is schnitzel,” said Togami, drawing laughter from the fans.
